How do you find belonging and acceptance when your personal identity conflicts with the community that you’re grown up in?

The Trek is a graphic novel that explores the relationships between people in a close-knit community that becomes disrupted. The story takes place over a five-day pioneer trek, an event organized by 16-year-old Codey's local church. Codey is annoyed to spend the last days of summer break in hot and dusty Wyoming, re-enacting the journey of the Mormon handcart pioneers. In the midst of this, she is having a crisis of faith which threatens her connection to the only community she has ever known.
